THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

This collection includes a variety of materials related to campaigns both in support of and against the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. One of the most vocal supporters of the ERA was the National Organization for Women (NOW), which fought for equality based on sex. in 1972, conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly founded the Stop-ERA campaign, which aimed to halt the passage of the amendment.
